Something about the summertime leaves me itching to travel and to get away from the city. Trust me, I like New Jersey as much as a Jersey Girl can and all but once summer comes around? I’m ready to bounce to more interesting parts of the world #deuces. I’ve always had the bad habit of wasting my summer working long hours at some god-forsaken job dealing with annoying customers, but this year all of that is gonna change.
My first trip just ended as you all know, Mexico impacted me and my view on the world in ways that I never expected. While I absolutely cannot wait to go back, I’ve officially become obsessed with traveling to new places. Mid-July I’m scheduled to jet off to Maine to hang out on both a farm (don’t you dare laugh) and a lake (again, for those who know me… I’m serious) for a bit, then head down to Florida to visit a good friend of mine… and that’s just the beginning. I’ve taken to creating a little kit that I have in my car at all times that allows me to be outtie the second I get coverage from work, no matter if I’m road tripping to the beach or to the mountains to hike. I figured I’d share it with you guys because I know I can’t be the only one bitten by the traveling bug!
Cap: Nothing is better during the summer then throwing your hair into a quick side-braid and rocking a baseball cap. Not only will the brim keep your face protected but if you’re like me…you love to rep your team! #teamyankees
Sunscreen: Protecting your face is such a must while traveling because nobody wants wrinkles early! This nifty sunscreen comes in a stick, perfect for no mess application while on the run.
Overnight Bag: Isn’t this nautical bag cute?! I saw it on the DailyLook website and it went right into my shopping cart (hi, I’m Victoria and I have a serious online shopping addiction). It’s big enough to act as an overnighter but small enough to still tote with you on everyday errands. Love.
Sunnies: I got a pair of these Bobbi Brown sunglasses through work with BeautySweetSpot and man are they awesome. They’re extremely flattering and do a great job of protecting your eyes on a sunny day.
Lip Balm: This is definitely the world’s cutest lipbalm. I know it’s probably not the most effective one out there but it gets an honorable mention in this post simply because it’s so freaking adorable. Whatever.
Headband: Tribal print is totally in right now but uh. I’m not really one to wear anything out of my comfort zone of jeans and a t-shirt. This headband is a way to work some color into your otherwise blah outfit without going too far out of your box.
Iphone Charger: Nothing sucks more then your phone dying right when you’re about to take an epic picture. Literally, the worst. Carry a cute little charger like this on you and get up to two hours of extra juice in a snap. Plus, this green is super cheerful as an added bonus.
Army Jacket: Summer days are notorious for being super hot but the nights can dip to be pretty chilly. I hate being cold, so carrying a layering piece like this jacket is great for adding warmth without being too bulky. My personal stylist, also known as the Internet, says that cargo is in this summer too. Score!
Toms: There isn’t a shoe that’s more comfortable then a good pair of Toms, or as durable. I’ve had my first pair for about three years now and while the insole is completely worn out, I grabbed a Dr. Schols insole and now they’re as good as new again! They can stand up to water, long days, and beachy weather without giving you blisters in return…and a kid somewhere in the world will benefit by the shoes that Toms will give them in return for your purchase. Can’t beat that.
Ipod AUX Cord: No road trip is complete without music.. and of course my piece of shit car is too old to come with one of these suckers already installed so. I improvise! We do it the ghetto way here in Jersey. Super classy. Speaking of, I’m kind of addicted to Spotify so follow me if you like listening to awesome music from even more awesome people!
