Ugh. Back to school time is here and I want to crawl under a rock and never come out. I’m in college, and I dread the day that summer comes to a close mostly because that means whatever awesome adventure I had that year is over and it’s back to the classroom for the Fall. In fact, the only thing that’s taking the sting out of going back to campus is that Fashion Week is right around the corner! Working for Jeannine at Beauty Sweet Spot has been an incredible experience, she sent me to my first Fashion Week event this past Spring and let me tell you…I’ve totally been bitten by the NYFW Bug. Nothing quite measures up to the experience of being backstage before a show!
As you can probably tell, I tend to stay incredibly busy while away at school (away is a stretch, I’m 40 minutes from home and a short ride away from my second home, New York City). Between work and internships and class and clubs, I barely have time to breath…but that’s how I like it and how I work best. Gotta say, technology has REALLY made multitasking way easier and I don’t really think I’d be able to cram as much into 24 hours as I do without some key apps that keep me straight and showing up on time… here are my top 5 that I can’t live without!
2. Wunderlist: Kind of along the same lines as the planner, I had a notebook that I carried with me everywhere that was filled with to-do lists…and then forgot about. So I graduated to using the Notes app on my phone, but that just wasn’t cutting it for me. Wunderlist is like the ultimate to-do list app ever. You can schedule reminders, cross things off, and feel really accomplished at the end of the day because you actually got everything you needed to done and over with!
3. Uber: Between my internship and work and school, I’m constantly on the go back and forth from New York City and New Brunswick (where my University is located). While I don’t Uber as much on campus, I rely on it ALL the time when I’m in the city. On a rainy day where the last thing you want to do is stand outside and hail a cab, all you have to do is order up an Uber car and save yourself the hassle of getting soaking wet just to go home. It’s AWESOME. Oh, and use my handy little code for $30 off your first ride! Code: e5jjm
4. Spotify: Just like any other New Yorker, or human being honestly, I can’t go anywhere without my headphones because I’m constantly listening to music via my Spotify. I have a playlist for everything, from relaxing yoga music to workout playlists because you never know what mood you’re going to be in! Follow me on Spotify to check out what I’m listening to, the best part about it is that it’s FREE!
5. Evernote: So the thing about being a blogger is that you’re almost always hit with inspiration whenever you don’t have a pen and paper to write them down with before you forget them again. That problem was solved the day that I discovered Evernote! Not only does the app let you write down anything that you want with ease, it syncs with all of your devices. So if I’m out interviewing and am using my phone, it automatically transfers to my Macbook later on without having to do anything at all…talk about a time saver. The web version of this is deffffffinitely something I’d recommend for a college student who doesn’t want to pay for the Office Suite. Just saying!
