When it comes to red carpet beauty and fashion looks, Reese Witherspoon has absolutely killed it for years. I’ve been a huge fan of Reese since basically forever (I mean, who didn’t love Legally Blonde) and I particularly love her approach to red carpet style. Her looks are all incredibly flattering to her figure and showcase a timelessness that once I’m rich and famous, I’ll definitely and 100% will copy.
With the Oscars creeping up on us, Reese has been nominated for her leading role in the critically acclaimed movie, Wild. I decided to open the vault and take a closer look at the stunning gowns Reese has donned on the red carpet and maybe throw in a guess or two at what she’ll choose to wear at the 2015 Academy Awards.
1. Golden Globes 2015: Calvin Klein with Tiffany & Co. jewels.
Ugh can we discuss. This dress from Calvin Klein is stunning, I love the simple cut and the luxe fabric that Klein used to create a simple and chic silhouette. The simple beauty look of glowing skin and a light pink lip compliment the gown without taking away from the overall look…and of course, the beautiful Tiffany & Co. jewels dripping off of Reese doesn’t hurt either!
2. Oscars 2011: Gorgio Armani Prive
This gown got a little bit of flak after Reese wore it on the 2011 Oscars red carpet because critics claimed it was too simple for such an extravagant event. I on the other hand think this gown showcases Reese’s amazing figure, showing off her great arms and lean body. The simple cut works for her (as we have all seen before) but the hair and makeup really elevate this look to the next level. Sweeping her blonde hair up into a chic pony and adding a graphic black smoky eye help to glam up an otherwise slightly boring look.
3. Golden Globes 2012: Zac Posen
This stunning red Zac Posen gown rocked the 2012 Golden Globes red carpet, complimented with even more gorgeous jewels. The real highlight of this dress isn’t necessarily the eye-catching color but the incredible tailoring that highlights the best parts of Reese’s body. How amazing are those curves?!
4. Oscars 2007: Nina Ricci
This eggplant Nina Ricci tiered gown is a step away from the classic silhouette that Reese normally opts for but she is definitely able to pull it off flawlessly. I love how the tiers cascade down, yet she isn’t lost under all of the fabric because of the fitted bodice. My only complaint? That hair style is SO 90’s!
5. CMA’s 2008: Marchesa
This arguably might be one of my favorite ever Reese Witherspoon gown looks simply because it’s different from her norm without being overwhelming. The incredible detail on the gown adds interest but the simple color keeps her silhouette from being too much. The small beauty details like the pop of red on her nails and lip switch it up from being too monochromatic. Love!
